After graduation from Chelsea School of Art (1981), Alexander Pemberton won a British Council Award to work in Spain, and, in 1983-4, he won an Elizabeth Greenshields Award to paint in Mexico. He had solo exhibitions at Cadogan Contemporary (1992) and Chappel Galleries (2006), and has exhibited in many group shows - Austin Desmond Fine Art, Browse and Darby and Highgate Contemporary among others. In 1995-6 he completed a mural at Sandwich Technology School, Kent (funded by the Foundation for Sport and the Arts). In 2002-3 he created exhibitions of paintings for Embrace the Middle East charity, of Israel/Palestine (2003) and Armenia (2004). In 2009 he showed paintings of the Thames at the River & Rowing Museum, Henley. His most recent solo exhibitions were at Abbott & Holder: ‘Thames Paintings' (2014) and 'Still lifes' (2022); at Chappel Galleries: 'Still life paintings' (2023). He has recently shown with the Urban Contemporaries (2019 - 2024).
