Liz Knox (1945 to 2024) pictured, was a member of Creative Coverage and was awarded the prestigious Aspect Prize in 2003. She said that her work was "a collection of marks influenced by objects, words, music, locations and events experienced. Mostly viewed from a mind’s eye perspective". Her work evolved from her reaction to a particular experience at a particular time. Neil Astley of Bloodaxe Books remarked that Liz had, “Reinvented the still life” and certainly elements of still life occur in the work. Flowers are often involved and Liz really enjoyed painting them. Her work was personal and in her mind she created stories, the viewer may find their own interpretation. "Basically, I paint," she said. Creative Coverage member, Barbara Mackie recalls Liz, "She was my student flatmate from 1969 to 1971, in Keir Street, Edinburgh, beside the college of art."
